How did I Design my Closet?
One of the ways I designed my closet was to take inventory of everything I had that was going in the closet. Shoes, short blouses, skirts, pants dresses and folded sweaters. First I started with everything short, including blouses, skirts and pants. These were put on 2 rods, with one above the other.
I measured the blouses and skirts to see if they would fit the rods. Skirts were on the rod closer to the floor and the blouses were on the top rod. I divided these rods with a shelf to the floor for the folded sweaters. Then next to that shelf I hung a rod for dresses or longer items. If I did not have a lot of shoes, I would arrange then on the floor under the dresses.
Alternatively, I get a handing shoe rack that holds about 24 pairs and hang it next to the rod with the dresses. Coats and jackets are kept in a hall closet, for easy access for the different seasons. There was also a shelf put above the rods. These were used for purses, an umbrella, gloves and hats. By putting the blouses and skirts this way it gives you more room to hand these items. Sometimes I keep the shoe boxes and stack the boxes on top of each other by season.
Boots are not included the closet they are either placed in the basement or put in the hall closet on a small plastic boot tray. This way it will keep the closet clean and free from salt from in the winter months, and leaves and dirt the other seasons. I do have a separate closet in the hall next to the bathroom where I keep towels, hand towels, and face cloths. This also includes sheet sets, divided by size of the bed, blankets also divided by the size of the bed. With a little organization, it is easy to have easy access to basically everything in your closet.
